A drinks specialist with the broadest Prosecco range of the West Coast chains, at prices that reward a loyalty card.

BevMo (it spells itself BevMo!, with the exclamation mark, which seems right for a shop full of bubbles) is a beverage specialist, not a supermarket, and its Prosecco range shows it. Alongside the familiar names you'll find three Superiore DOCGs, a Friulian bottle and a Prosecco Rosé with a pop star's name on it. The catch is price. Big-brand bottles often cost more here than at the big-box stores, so the free ClubBev! program earns its keep.

Who can get BevMo Prosecco shipped?

Alcohol shipping in the US runs state by state, and BevMo ships only to the ten places above. If you live in one of them, a case can arrive in 3 to 7 days. If you live anywhere else, including big states such as New York, Texas and Illinois, BevMo can't ship to you, and you'll need a local shop. Instant Delivery and Pickup work only near a store, which means California, Arizona and Washington.

Best under $15: Benvolio Prosecco, about $11.99. Most Prosecco comes from the Veneto; Benvolio comes from Friuli, the region's quieter eastern half. A good-value way to see that Prosecco is bigger than one place.

Best DOCG: Spiritus Prosecco Superiore Asolo DOCG Brut. A Superiore DOCG from the Asolo hills, labelled Brut, and not a bottle we found at any other US retailer. We didn't see a price, so ask in store.

Best Rosé: Mionetto Prosecco Rosé, about $15.99 on the Arizona site. The same bottle was about $21.99 in California. If you're in Arizona, enjoy the discount.

Best for a party: La Marca Prosecco 1.5L. BevMo lists the magnum, which pours about ten glasses. We didn't see its price.

If you see it, buy it: Zardetto Prosecco, about $21.99. The only bottle here from a producer we have profiled, and a name we did not find at Walmart, Target or Sam's Club. Read our page on the house before you buy.

Exclusives and private labels

We found no BevMo own-label or confirmed exclusive Prosecco. Spiritus Prosecco Superiore Asolo DOCG Brut didn't turn up at any other US retailer in our searches, so it may be one, but BevMo doesn't say so and we couldn't confirm it.

Buying tips

• Join ClubBev! before you buy. It's free, some bottles carry a lower member price, and points add up quickly on a case.
• The 5-Cent Wine Sale. BevMo has long been known for a sale where a second bottle of a marked wine costs five cents. We couldn't find a current, reliable source for the terms, so check what's included before you plan a party around it.
• Compare across state sites. The Mionetto Rosé was $6 cheaper on the Arizona site than the California one.
• Off-dry means a little sweet. The Bartenura is the one to pour with a spicy supper.
