Where to Buy Prosecco in the US

Americans buy an enormous amount of Prosecco and mostly grab whatever is cold. Here is where to find the good stuff, store by store.

Every store below has its own page with the Proseccos we found on the shelf, the prices we saw and the date we saw them, and our picks by budget. Prices and stock change by store and state, so treat our numbers as a guide, not a quote.

The short version

Cheapest serious bottle: the warehouse clubs. Sam's Club's Member's Mark and Costco's Kirkland Signature both put Prosecco Superiore DOCG, the hill-grown top tier, on the shelf for under $10. That is a remarkable price for the denomination.

Biggest choice: Total Wine. Its "Winery Direct" filter alone holds about 35 Proseccos, and the rest of the wall is bigger than most shops' entire sparkling section.

Most convenient: the grocers. Publix, Kroger, Whole Foods, Target and Walmart cover the names you know, and several sell their own label.

How to choose, in thirty seconds

  • Brut or Extra Dry? Brut is the drier one. Extra Dry is sweeter, and it is the classic aperitivo style. Prosecco labels enjoy confusing people.
  • DOC or DOCG? DOC covers a big area of plains. DOCG (Conegliano Valdobbiadene or Asolo, often labelled "Superiore") comes from the hills and usually costs a few dollars more. At the warehouse clubs, it often doesn't.
  • Private labels are not a trick. Somebody in the Veneto makes them. Our store pages say who, when that is public.

Buying online

Wine shipping in the US is state by state. Some retailers deliver through Instacart or their own apps where local law allows. Others only ship to certain states: BevMo, for example, ships to 10 states plus DC. Each store page lists what we found.
